MCADV REPORTS TO:
Executive Director JOB SUMMARY The Communications and Membership Specialist is responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and monitoring MCADV's strategic communications strategy.
This work includes communicating with Coalition members, media relations, public awareness, Coalition imaging and development of effective messaging.
The Specialist is responsible for member relations, including outreach, recruitment, retention and implementation of plans designed to cultivate, maintain, and strengthen member ties to each other and to the Coalition.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Public Awareness/Public Relations Designs, organizes, and evaluates activities and materials for Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Stalking Awareness Month, Crime Victims' Rights Week, Teen Dating Violence Awareness & Prevention Month and other awareness campaigns.
Develops contacts within the state for the sponsorship of the ongoing domestic violence awareness campaigns.
Develop and maintain a database of news articles and media contacts.
Builds relationships with media statewide.
Inventory and order promotional/resource materials.
Facilitates the display of domestic violence information at conferences, expos and other related events.
Communications Develops and updates domestic violence resource information.
Responsible for the development of all MCADV publications, including newsletters, annual report, and brochures, in collaboration with MCADV colleagues as well as community partners.
Maintains MCADV social media sites and website.
Analyze data pertaining to website and social media use and effectiveness as relating to fundraising and awareness activities.
Oversees the organization's communication initiatives.
Coordinates press conferences, press releases and statements, arranges speaking engagements for the MCADV Executive Director.
Works in conjunction with the Executive Director to oversee and facilitate MCADV communications strategies.
Membership Coordination Coordination and development of membership communications.
Creation of strategies and marketing of the membership program, INside TRAC.
Provide technical assistance to member programs on public relations, communications, media advocacy and media relations.
Facilitate statewide and local approaches to communications by working with the member programs.
Participate in promotion of coalition membership, member benefits and coalition programs and services.
Solicit new and renewing membership.
Write and update membership communications.
Other Duties and Responsibilities Coordinates with the MCADV program specialists for training events and other program activities for awareness and communications.
Provides technical assistance to member shelter programs regarding domestic violence public awareness efforts.
Maintain inventory and purchases of MCADV promotional items and educational resource materials.
Plans and implements media advocacy.
Supports the work of MCADV's projects.
Answer agency calls and make necessary referrals.
Agency travel to perform duties and responsibilities within the local area may not be reimbursed.
Perform other duties as assigned by Executive Director.
QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in public relations, communications, or a related field or equivalent experience in communications, training, and outreach to diverse audiences.
Master's degree is preferred.
Skills in communication and resource development.
High level of individual initiative and creativity.
Strong self-initiative, be able to effectively manage projects in collaboration with others.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills Highly computer literate.
Knowledge of domestic violence issues and dynamics is a plus.
This position requires some evening and weekend hours.
In-state travel and occasional out-of- state travel is required.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
